Scholar Spotlight: The Igorot Spirit of Benguet

The Background:

For scholars coming from the mountainous regions of Benguet, the path to a career in Electromechanics often feels worlds away. Many of our Igorot youth are traditionally focused on agriculture, but Yim Zyrel Padsuyan wanted to bring modern technical skills back to their community.

The Journey:

Supported by Learning Without Borders, Yim Zyrel Padsuyan made the long journey from the Cordilleras to Dualtech Training Center. Transitioning from the quiet mountains to a fast-paced industrial environment was a challenge, but the innate "Binnadang" (community spirit) of the Igorot people helped Yim Zyrel Padsuyan excel in team-based technical projects.

The Impact:

Today, Yim Zyrel Padsuyan is mastering advanced electrical systems. "I am learning how to power the future," they say. "By gaining these skills at Dualtech, I can show my community that our tradition of hard work can master any modern technology."
